Why getana exists?

We’ve decided to launch getana, aka “get an advisor” for a simple reason: Help business leaders and entrepreneurs, like ourselves, find the right independent advisor(s) throughout their company’s life journey.
Our objective is to be the main and independent matchmaker of advisory services. For entrepreneurs, executives, owners and business stakeholders, become the main place to get connected to the appropriate and quality advisors. For advisors, the main source of contact origination and showcasing their services to clients in need.
For all the founders and entrepreneurs out there, we knew that one of the main challenges they face, besides managing their own business and its competitive landscape, is to raise capital, find a target to buy, evaluate their company’s market value or sell a stake of their company. To do so, they usually would seek the guidance of a professional service provider, typically a lawyer, banker, accountant or financial advisor, who have gone through these transaction processes numerous times in the past.
After discussing with many founders and executives, we saw a common thread: their search for a solution is scattered and often they simply reply on referrals and word of mouth. While the latter remains a main source of answers for many entrepreneurs, it is not secured from major failures. For example, not every entrepreneur has an existing network of professionally vetted advisors to tap into and depending on the introduction, these could well be commercially motivated, which could lead to a biased and negative outcome. So, we thought there should be a more transparent and systematic approach to find the right partner every entrepreneur would want to get advised from. The solution: a platform for entrepreneurs to find independently vetted and reviewed, by peers, professional advisors who would provide the right advice, access, and value to the business stakeholder.
While there are many professionals who can be named as “advisors”, we have decided to shed some lights on the advisory industry. According to Pitchbook, there are over 73’000 professional service firms in the world, ranging from investment banks, financial advisory, accountancy to law and management consulting firms. This makes the market quite large in terms of options for an entrepreneur to choose from and determine which ones are the most relevant ones for each unique business.
Since inception, we’ve been working hard iterating and developing the platform based on valuable feedback distilled from over several 100 interviews with entrepreneurs and from over 20 years of combined work experience of our team in the advisory industry.
Today, getana addresses these issues and tries to challenge the status quo of an industry that is fragmented. We firmly believe advisors would always and remain beneficial to entrepreneurs and can help save significant amounts of money and time in many transaction situations. In fact, our service caters to advisors by allowing them to focus on demand that fits their scope of work.
We try to simplify this process and provide an independent and unbiased service so that every business owner gets what they want. We also provide a spotlight for many valuable and niche advisors to shine and get found, while the major bulge bracket banks and their brands capture the needs of larger businesses.
